This course will survey of the role, 发展, 和 function of 音乐 in the Christian church from its roots in the Old Testament to the present day, with attention given to biblical, 神学, 社会, 和 cultural considerations. Offered alternate years.

This is an historical survey course of Christian hymnody which will develop an awareness of the poetic, 音乐的, 神学, 和 spiritual aspects of hymnody 为 both congregational 和 devotional use. Offered alternate years.

In this course students will develop page layout skills utilizing composition 和 typographic principles while learning to use Adobe InDesign 和 the creation of images in Adobe Illustrator 和 Adobe Photoshop, including text to produce flyers, 海报, 时事通讯, 杂志, 宣传册, 日历, 等. 课程费用:50美元. Students will become proficient using Adobe Photoshop in this course, including its applications in graphic design, 广告, 网页设计, 动画, 和多媒体. As a beginning study in the craft of conducting, this course will include the basic beat patterns, preparatory 和 release gestures, 和 simple non-verbal stylistic cues. Students will conduct a 音乐的 ensemble composed of class members.

This course will study the 组织 和 directing of h和bell programs. The one (1)-unit course includes a philosophy of h和bell ringing, 方法 为 beginning ringers, materials 和 设备, 招聘, 和 h和bell literature 为 school 和 church. This course will enable students to identify, 理解, 和 work with the 音乐 capabilities of children. The three (3)-unit course is required 为 音乐 education 和 liberal studies majors 和 others interested in developing school 音乐 curricula 和/or other special skills 和 projects. The two (2)-unit course is available to others primarily interested in preparing 音乐的 activities 和 cultivating classroom teaching skills. Basic 音乐 reading ability 和 音乐的 experience recommended.

As an introduction to basic acting techniques, this course will examine ways to construct the interior, 物理, 和 vocal life of a character, teach warm-up procedures 和 staging principles including scene analysis, 表演 of monologues, 和临时措施. There may be an additional charge 为 field trips.
